John

In this workshop we had to draw from 3 different areas, this first image is through a window the thick marker is the fram, it is a drawing of inside the oestler building using grey markers
This second drawing was done using pastels and charcoal of inside the creative arts building, the black figures are silhouettes of people present at the time
This is a drawing looking outside the Oaestler building from two different sides, one using fine liner and the other using pencil

This was the final one I did at the top of the balcony, I decided to draw what was in front of me rather than off the actual balcony, it includes people that were up there drawing, coats and bags etc.

Stephen Cinema4D

post its from Yousuf Mohammed on Vimeo.

In this session we explored the basics of Cinema 4D, we created two different videos a post it video where they are launched in the air and a circle spinning. My cinema4D crashed whilst rendering the second video however I have some screenshots of the process.

In cinmea4D we used an emitter to create the post it video and used different gravity effects to make the video. We also used rotations and scaling to get it to shoot up rather than sideways.
This was the start of the circle spinning creating different shapes
We created a sentance using motexts and different background effects, we also explored lighting effects and shadow effects in this session

Sara After Effects

Untitled from Yousuf Mohammed on Vimeo.

This is the animation I produed in Sara's workshop I chose the Arial font to make the animation on as it is a nice simple clean font, similar to what i want my animation to look like. I originally had 3 more scenes with more facts however I only had 10 seconds of run time so I chose the more aesthetic approach rather than factual. Overall I am very pleased with this animation and will use these skills in my move brief

These are some of the scenes I used and some that had to be missed out due to lack of run time, I chose a simple black and white colour scheme as I thought it would suit the style of animation

Again everything that is being animated seperatley had to be put on different layers and different documents, using the same document with multiple artboards does not work

John Workshop

John wasn't in this workshop however he tasked us with looking at some art work of what the 80s looked like and asked us to create a list of what current times represents, this is what I came up with which I think has been very influential in peoples lives
We were then asked to draw some quick thumbnails with some of our idea, this is a drawing of Donald Trump and Kim Kong Un fighting on twitter over nuke buttons which is a real life event
Some other ideas are people more interested in their phones rather than eachother and books, there are some ideas of prosthetic limbs and body parts along with 'fast' action meal plans that people fall for and buy
Some of these ideas include fitness on scoial meida such as Instagram, and different technologies such as Apple phones and Macbooks. There are a few imaes of items such as fidget spinners which had a massive affect on social media for a while
This is the first compososition I produced with technology from today, fast foods a muscular male figure as fitness is still a major thing. There is a billboard outside with the next latest phone being slightly faster than the last but 2x as expensive

This is the coloured version to show the types of clothes people wear today, it is more colourful and contrasting, I kept it simple with fast food and clubs as that is what seems to be importan on social media such as Instagram where students will upload pictures of foods and going to the club

In this session we learnt about masking and refining edges to select large areas, we also learnt about adjustment layers such as glows, colours and gradients. These two city scapes are done using these techniques.

We also learnt about the clone tool and crop/scale to create different compositions. the clone tool has been used in the river just as a test
In this task we created a shape in Illustrator then inserted it into Photoshop to add glows and strokes to it, we also learnt another effect in Illustrator to create different types of lines
To prove we could use these techniques Stephen tasked us with editing an image of us by using the techniques he taught us in the workshop, this is the outcome of mine. I changed the background from white to blue and also changed the colour of some of the clothing we are wearing.

Sara After Effects

In Sara's workshop we created an animation using vector characters, I chose to do a penalty shot animation between an adult and a kid in net. I used Illustrator to create the characters
In order to create the animation every piece that I wanted to move seperately I had to put on different layers, so each arm, leg body etc were all on different layers. I named them accordingly to make it easy to find the right layer to adjust

Football Animation from Yousuf Mohammed on Vimeo.

This is the animation I created, the leg movement isn't fluid this is something I can work on to improve. I could also add some football crowds cheering in the background for some added effect. The blue filter on the characters came from a texture on Google images and using different overlays to create the effect. It makes it more aesthetic rather than just having a black and white animation.

John Workshop

In this final font workshop I chose to develop the 'bubble' font out of the three I drew out this was my favourite, I created a 2 by 1 grid for each letter, letters such as b,d,q etc. go two squares up or down and letters such as o,u,e etc. all fit into a 1 grid square. This keeps the font consistent all the way round. This font will be developed further using illustrator however for now I am pleased with how this font has turned out
John the asked me to see if I could disect the font and bring it down to a few basic elements. I explored each letter and concluded that every single letter can be made using these shapes (and slight variations) this information will help me develop the font on illustrator as I'd be able to make it perfect.

The first taks in this workshop was to recreate an album cover using different tools such as step ad repeat, the character tools to reshape and the size of the font. We also used vectors and the eye dropper tool to recreate the cover perfectly. This is my recreated version.
On the second page we learmt how to create a contents page that changes if you move pages around so you don't have to keep adjusting the content page after every page move.
Another feature of indesign we explored is linking a page to a certain image/vector in this case one of the letters moves you onto a different page when you click on it, this is good for interactivity.
On this page we linked music to the image of Count Baise, music plays when going on the page, this is useful because you can keep all your assets on one page making the PDF document more nteractive and imsersive with the use of music.
On the final page we learnt how to link videos into an indesign page so you can play a music straight from the PDF when you export it, I'd like to use these features in a future brief/piece of work.
